Wrap: Missouri's former Medicaid director, Ian McCaslin, has been replaced with just days left in Missouri legislative session. Workers at the Department of Social Services found out about the switch in an email on Tuesday.

Republican State Representative Jay Barnes is sponsoring a bill to expand Missouri Medicaid program as part of the federal health care law. He says McCaslin never even testified in favor of his bill, even though Gov. Jay Nixon wanted the expansion.  

Barnes says such legislation will still be possible--even with McCaslin gone.

McCaslin has been reached by phone but he isn't saying much about his departure. Nixon's staff also isn't saying anything about the move.

McCaslin has been reached by phone but he's refused to say anything about why he left. He had been the head of the Medicaid program since 2007.
