Representative Todd Akin will be the republican candidate for the U.S. Senate against Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill...after Tuesday was the final day to drop out of the election.

And one Missouri republican acknowledged Akin made a mistake with his comments on the topic of legitimate rape.

Republican State Senator Bill Stouffer says Akin's a genuine man, but when asked if he supported him in the upcoming election...this is what he had to say...

Akin has received support from prominent G-O-P members since his comments including Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich...who appeared with him Monday in St. Louis.
