The current law is forcing a payroll boost in private businesses.
The new law would repeal automatic minimum wage increases and business owners like Greg Hunsucker from Independence have a problem with how the current system affects restaurant servers.

Hunsucker added the governor was incorrect to overrule the law.

The Senate Business Committee was urged to repeal the automatic increase in minimum wage.
Instead, Senator Loudon is proposing a fix to the issue by aligning state and federal wages.

He also assured the alignment would not put Missouri in a competitive disadvantage.
The bill would go into affect in 2010.
