One Missouri lawmaker wants to rid the State Capitol of any and all alcohol, except in some rare exceptions. Dan Frumson is at Jefferson City.
House Republican Brian Baker calls the State Capitol the people's house, and says legislators need to lead by example.
"The people that put us here work in every day jobs, they work in companies and businesses that have rules to account for professionalism and in other words you know you don't drink on the job."
The current language of the bill allows the governor, house speaker, and president pro-tem the ability to call for exceptions.
Baker also says that the children touring the capitol building should not see alcohol delivered or lawmakers drinking alcohol.

If you want to come down to Missouri's State Capitol and chat with your state legislator over a beer, you might want to get down there soon. Dan Frumson explains.
Republican Representative Brian Baker of Belton wants to remove all alcohol from the State Capitol.
Baker says although lawmakers should be held to a higher standard, there are other reasons that may be less obvious.
"I don't think we ought to be delivering it to the capitol where these kids are around it. It's a questionable issue. I think that one of the things you've got to remember to is that you've got interns around here who are under age."
In response to whether or not legislators have been intoxicated while on the job:
"Uh... there's been roomers."
