Missouri's governor has sent the President a letter asking him to investigate complaints that some of the state's National Guard troops are being used as drivers for a Halliburton subsidiary.
Missy Shelton reports.
Democratic Governor Bob Holden says he became concerned after receiving information from the Head of the Missouri National Guard.
Apparently, relatives of soldiers in the Central Missouri-based 1221st Transportation Company are being used as drivers for Kellogg, Brown and Root, a Halliburton subsidiary.
Holden says these troops are not trained for this kind of work.
At least one Republican lawmaker defends the governor's letter.
State Senator Jon Dolan is himself a Major in the Missouri National Guard.
A Whitehouse spokesman confirmed the administration has received the governor's letter but declined to comment, referring questions to Defense Department officials in Baghdad.
