Lowering the Age Requirement for Organ Donors is way to Save Lives

Fifteen year olds would be able to save lives under a bill up for consideration in the Missouri House. Ashley Hall has more in Jefferson City

Lowering the age for organ donors is a way to save lives, according to Columbia Representative Chuck Graham.

He's trying to increase the pool of prospective donors.

Graham says fifteen is an apropriate age to allow someone to register to be a donar.

Contents: Allow somebody who's 15 to be able to donate, right now it's 16, 15-year-olds can now get a driver's licenses and they didn't use to be able to so that's why we've got that in there. Unfortunately that's a lot of the ways we get organs. It's not fun, that just seems to be a fact of life.

Last year, Graham's bill received House approval, but died in the Senate.
