Children's Health Care Approved in the House

The Missouri legislature is one step closer to wiping kids' runny noses.

Missy Shelton has the story from Jefferson City.

The House approved a measure that would set up a not for profit corporation to provide health care for needy children.

Democrats and Republicans were divided on the issue...The bill passed with a near party-line vote.

Opposition came from Republicans who said the government should not set up a bureaucracy funded with taxpayer's dollars.

But St. Louis Representative..Democrat Pat Dougherty, argued it's an issue of caring for Missouri children.

The bill now goes before the Senate.
