Legislation requiring Hepatitus Vaccines for Certain State Workers

Lawmakers heard testimony in favor of a bill that would allow hepatitus vaccinations of certain state workers. Denise Jackson has the story from Jefferson City.

A house bill would offer at-risk state workers vaccinations for Hepatitus B . . . a disease 100 times more contagious than Aids.

State workers dealing with Public Health and Safety are most likely to contract the disease.

Jefferson County Representative Kate Hollingsworth, a co-sponsor of the bill, says offering testing is the least the state can do for at-risk workers.

Contents: We feel it is important that when the state of Missouri employs people, and we have a habit of not paying the best wages, we certainly shouldn't risk these people, their lives and their health.

Currently, all private employers in Missouri are required to offer the vaccinations.
