Last week, the Missouri administration reported the state owed you a tax refund because of excess tax collections. But you'll not be getting that refund anytime soon, as Beejal Patel reports from Jefferson City:
It's two law-suits that have blocked almost 700-million dollars in refunds that have piled up during the last three years.
The refunds have been triggered because the state has collected an excess in revenue, which includes sales taxes.
In one lawsuit, the Missouri Association of Social Welfare argues giving the refunds to tax payers discriminates against the poor who don't pay taxes.
Peter DeSimone is the group's executive director.
The Supreme Court will hear one of the cases in early December. But it could be months -- or longer -- before there is a final court decison that gets you those refunds.
