Senate steps closer to clearing criminal records

The Missouri Senate moves one step closer to allowing convicted felons to clear their records. Susan Batt has the story from Jefferson City:

With the proposed measure, non-violent felons could have their records expunged if they are clean for 18 years. However, this does not apply to people convicted of violent, sexual crimes or major drug crimes.

Senate Crime Committee Chair Harold Caskey says the bill might even have a positive impact on the crime rate.
