Deadbeat Dad truckers may be forced off the road

Deadbeat dad truckers will be off the road under a new state law.

The new bill would give the state child support enforcement division broad reaching authority to track deadbeat parents and make them pay child support.

The state will be able to suspend professional and driver's licenses if the parent is three months or two-thousand dollars behind in child support.

Bill sponsor St. Louis Representative Pat Dougherty says part of the problem is parents who break the law to avoid paying.

Contents: He says some parents jump from job to job to avoid wage withholding. Others participate in an underground economy where they are paid only in cash.

Federal mandate says Missouri must put the brakes on deadbeat dads by October 1.
