Campaign Finance Bill Passes

The House passed a measure that makes lobbyist spending records easy for the public to access and clarifies campaign finance reporting.

The measure simplifies how lobbyists report the money they spend on legislators and makes that information easily available to the public.

Current legislation requires lobbyists report every penny spent on a legislator but that information is difficult to obtain.

Contents: "But within a year this will be available on the internet on Missouri's homepage where everyone who has access to the internet can pull up by lobbyist, by legislator, by month and it's cumulative and it will show everything everyone wants to know."

Actual times for campaign finance reporting are also set out in the bill in an effort to simplify the process.

The measure now goes to the Senate.
