Welfare Reform Loophole Remains Unknown

State Capital Bureau Missouri counties could have a way out of federal welfare reform but not many know about the loophole. Jennifer Horton explains from Jefferson City.

OutCue: SOC Under the new law, single adults between 18 and 50 are limited to three years on food stamps.

Those who've hit that limit must find part-time work by January 15 to keep collecting the stamps.

But the head of a mid-Missouri group tracking welfare reform says there is a way to delay the cuts until next September.

Rex Campbell says he doubts many counties realize they can apply for such a waiver.
